Terms & Conditions

1. Professional Status

I am a BACP-accredited counsellor and I abide by the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. All sessions are conducted within these ethical guidelines.

2. The Therapeutic Contract

Therapy is a collaborative process. Our initial session is an opportunity to ensure we are a good fit. If I feel my expertise does not meet your specific needs, I will discuss this with you and, where possible, offer signposting to more suitable services.

3. Online Therapy Environment

For online sessions, it is the client’s responsibility to ensure they are in a private, safe, and quiet space where they will not be overheard or interrupted. I will ensure the same from my environment.

4. Fees and Payment

  • Payment is required in advance via bank transfer.

  • Fees are reviewed annually, and you will be given at least 30 days' notice of any changes.

5. Cancellations and Refunds

As detailed in my Cancellations and Refunds Policy, a minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice will be charge.

6. Confidentiality and its Limits

Everything discussed in our sessions is confidential. However, there are legal and ethical exceptions to this, including:

  • If I believe you or someone else is at risk of serious harm.

  • Legal requirements (e.g., terrorism, money laundering, or a court order).

  • I discuss my work with a clinical supervisor (as required by the BACP), where your identity remains anonymous.

7. Communication Between Sessions

My email and contact forms are for administrative purposes (booking/rescheduling) only. I do not offer emergency or crisis support. If you are in crisis, please contact your GP, call 111, or contact the Samaritans (116 123).

8. Ending Therapy

You have the right to end therapy at any time. I usually recommend at least one "ending session" to wrap up our work together safely, especially for long-term work.

9. Jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
